What the company does
OnwardTrust operates an escrow service for travel. A travel agency directs its customer to pay OnwardTrust rather than the agency; we hold the money and release it to the agency only once a valid ticket for the booking has been verified, and return it to the traveller if none appears. The terms on which we do that are our Terms and Conditions.
Regulatory status
This is stated plainly because the service involves holding other people's money, and because assuming otherwise would be a reasonable mistake to make.
OnwardTrust S.a.r.l. is not a bank and does not take deposits. It is not a licensed payment institution or an electronic money institution, and it is not supervised by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) or by any equivalent authority.
Money we receive is held on bank accounts the company controls. It is not held in a segregated legal trust, and we do not act as a trustee. Our obligations to hold, release and return that money are contractual, and they are set out in sections 3, 5 and 6 of our Terms and Conditions.
We do not accept card payments and we are not in scope for any card-industry security standard, because we handle no card data at all.
Disputes
Complaints go to the addresses in section 2, and the procedure is in section 12 of our Terms and Conditions. We are not committed to, and do not participate in, any alternative dispute resolution body. Where a matter cannot be settled between us, the courts identified in our Terms and Conditions have jurisdiction.
